Montana Values Practical Solutions Real Life Experience
Dear Friends,
My name is Brittany MacLean and I'm running for the State Senate in District 2. This is a picture of my four children - Zach, Garrett, Chloe and Sofia, who I'm holding. They are the reason I decided to run for SD 2. It was a tough decision to run for office while raising my family, but an important decision. There is just too much at stake in 2008. Our children should be able to count on the best public education, on quality health care and on a prosperous future in Montana.
It's been a busy campaign so far, but with the help of family, grandparents and friends, we're doing just fine. The kids would like to see a few more parades on the schedule, but I am focused on continuing our grassroots effort to talk to every voter at the doors.
I am proud that in Montana we have a People's Legislature. That we are represented by our neighbors and by working Montanans - not career politicians. I am proud that as a widowed mother of four I have the opportunity to put my real life experience and passion for the issues to work for you in the State Senate. And I promise that when elected in November, I will work tirelessly to represent you.
With only a couple months left, I need your support and help to succeed. Please take a look at my website and contact the campaign to help out.
Sincerely, Brittany MacLean
Election 2008: Senate District 2 at center of struggle for Legislature power By MIKE DENNISON of the Missoulian State Bureau
...MacLean said she won the primary by talking
to hundreds of voters face-to-face about the issues that mattered to
them, and plans to continue that strategy in the general election.
“A lot of people have simply given up on politics,” she said. “We're interested in reaching out to a diverse populace.”
MacLean
also said she's well aware that the outcome in SD2 could determine
political control of the Senate: “That's what we keep hearing ... so
we're excited about the race.”
Political Newcomers Set for Legislative Sprint By DAN TESTA, Flathead Beacon
... local legislative races are going to be the key
battleground for Republicans and Democrats looking to make gains. And
out of those races few, if any, are more important than Senate District
2. With the endorsement of every Flathead Democratic lawmaker, Jordan
was clearly the establishment candidate, but MacLean attributes her
victory to basic, grassroots politics: knocking on doors and making
phone calls.
“We did everything that was free,” MacLean said. “We were confident and we did lots of outreach.”
MacLean plans to focus her general campaign on improving education and
policies to help families struggling with the increasing prices of gas,
energy and food...
